How to get better at PvP in Minecraft Bedrock
Touch settings, controller or mouse, critical hits, strafing, sprint resets and healing: what really wins a fight in Minecraft Bedrock.

PvP on Bedrock isn't the same as on Java. There's no cooldown between hits, so your click rhythm matters. But clicking fast isn't enough: most fights are won on positioning, critical hits and how you handle healing.
This guide works whether you play on touch, controller or mouse.
Start with your settings
Nobody wins with default settings. Take ten minutes for this, it's what improves your level the fastest.
On touch
- Switch to split controls, the ones with a crosshair in the middle of the screen. You aim with the crosshair and hit with a button, instead of tapping the player with your finger. The option's name changes with the game version, look for it in the touch controls settings.
- Raise the sensitivity little by little, until you can turn around in a single swipe.
- Turn off haptic feedback (vibrations): it slows some phones down.
On controller
- Raise the sensitivity. By default, it's too low to follow a player circling around you.
- Keep the same controller and the same settings for a long time: muscle memory matters more than hardware.
On mouse and keyboard
- A light mouse and a medium sensitivity beat a very high sensitivity.
- Be careful with extreme clicking techniques (butterfly, jitter): many servers cap clicks per second, and some punish them.
Everywhere
- Raise your field of view (FOV) to see players coming from the sides.
- Lower your render distance if your game stutters. A smooth game beats nice scenery. We have a full guide to fixing lag.
The techniques that win fights
Critical hits. A hit landed while you're falling from a jump does more damage. Jump, hit on the way down. That's the basic way to finish an opponent.
Strafing. Don't run straight at your opponent: move sideways while hitting, circling around them. You become much harder to hit.
Sprint resets. When sprinting, your first hit knocks back harder. Let go of the forward key for a split second between hits, then sprint again: every hit then knocks back like the first one. Your opponent spends more time in the air and hits back less.
Combos. If your opponent is in the air and you hit them again before they land, they can barely answer. The best players chain five or six hits like that.
Spacing. Don't stay glued to your opponent. The player who lands the first hit at the right distance takes the advantage.

Healing and items
A fight on a Factions server often lasts longer than in regular survival, because everyone wears good armor. Healing decides it.
- Heal before you're in danger, not when you have two hearts left.
- Count your opponent's pearls. If they used two to run away, they have fewer for later.
- Set up your hotbar in the same order every time. In a fight, you don't have time to look for things.
Ping, the thing everyone forgets
With 150 ms of ping, your hits land late and you eat your opponent's. Play on a server close to you, on stable Wi-Fi or a cable. A server in your region usually means under 50 ms with a good connection.
Practice
The best training is duels: one on one, same gear, nothing to lose. Do ten in a row against the same player, then switch opponents. You'll quickly see what works against you.
On Linesia, duels start right from the game, and the real PvP happens in the warzone, where factions fight over events like Domination or Outpost. The server is hosted in France, so ping stays low across Europe.
Frequently asked questions
How many clicks per second do you need for PvP on Bedrock?
Between 8 and 12 is already very good. Beyond that, it helps less than positioning and critical hits. And many servers limit clicking that's too fast.
Is PvP on phone possible?
Yes. With split controls and a good sensitivity, mobile players regularly beat PC players. It takes more practice at first.
Controller or touch, which is better?
Both are fine with practice. Pick what you're most comfortable with, and don't switch every two days.
