Factions is one of the most played modes on Minecraft servers. You're part of a team, your team has a base, and teams fight each other. On Bedrock, it's played on phone, console and PC, all together.

The first days are the hardest: you don't know anyone, you have no gear, and everyone else does. Here's how to get through them.

Join a faction or create your own?

Joining a faction that's already running is the easiest when you start alone. You learn fast with players who know the server, and you get to use their base. To find one, look at the recruitment posts on the server's Discord, or ask in chat.

Creating your own is better if you arrive with friends. You move at your own pace and you decide everything. It's slower at first, but a lot more fun once it takes off.

One tip: avoid twenty-person factions where nobody talks to you. A small active faction beats a big one where you're useless.

Your first week

  1. Farm before you fight. Your money comes from farming: ores, crops, fishing, mobs. No money, no gear, and without gear the warzone will cost you.
  2. Grab the free kits. Most Factions servers give some out. On Linesia, /kit gives you several, with no cooldown.
  3. Go to the warzone in a group. Alone and badly geared, you're an easy target. Three of you, even beginners, can hold your own.
  4. Don't carry what you don't want to lose. In the warzone, if you die, your inventory stays where you fell.
  5. Never log out in the middle of a fight. On most servers, it counts as a death.

Factions lingo

You'll hear these words in chat in your first hour:

WordWhat it means
WarzoneThe area where everyone can fight.
ClaimA piece of the map that belongs to a faction. Nobody else can break anything there.
BaseA faction's home in the warzone, built on its claim.
GearYour equipment: armor, sword, healing items.
Combat tagA few seconds after a hit during which you're "in combat". Commands blocked, no logging out.
KitA free bundle of items you get with a command.
RaidAn attack on another faction's base.
AllyA friendly faction you can't hit.
TeamingSecretly working with an enemy faction. Banned on most servers.
PearlThe ender pearl, to teleport in a fight.
HacksCheat software. Report it to staff, with a video if you can.

Rules to know

Every server has its rules. Read them, really: every week we see players punished for things they thought were allowed. The most common ones:

  • teaming with another faction is almost always banned;
  • bugs that give money or items must be reported, not used;
  • logging out in combat is punished with a death, sometimes with a sanction.

Factions on Linesia

On Linesia, we play SkyFaction: your faction has its own island, safe, to farm and build, and a base in the warzone to fight. PvP only happens in the warzone and in duels, so you can progress calmly before you jump in.

Factions meet every week at events: Domination, Outpost, Nexus, the boss. And if you want to practice fighting first, our PvP tips for Bedrock will help.

Frequently asked questions

How many players in a faction?

It depends on the server, often between 5 and 15. To start, a faction of 3 to 6 active players is perfect.

Can I play Factions on my phone?

Yes. On Bedrock, phone, console and PC play on the same servers. PvP is harder on touch at first, but you get better with practice.

What do I lose if I die in the warzone?

Usually everything you're carrying. That's why you don't go in with your most valuable items.
